<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a printer by controlling the power supply of the printer regardless of the main processing. CONSTITUTION:The value of a power-down counter 2 is updated every time the interruption is produced for each fixed time by an interruption circuit 1 containing a clock generator 20. When the counter 2 is set at '0' (desired value), a power-down command is transmitted to a printer 4 from a CPU 3. Thus the printer 4 is set under a power saving mode. In this power saving mode the power supply is not completely cut to the printer 4 but the current consumption can be reduced down to about several muA while a mode of external characters, etc. defined by a user is maintained. Thus a power-on mode can also be reset simply.</p> |
