摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate the influences of stimulated phosphorescence afterglow on the quality of picture and obtain an accurate radiant ray image by making reading in the state in which the level of stimulated phosphorescence signals obtained by reading stimulated phosphorescence photoelectrically becomes lower than a specified value to the level of stimulated phosphorescence signals obtained by reading stimulated phosphorescence photoelectrically. CONSTITUTION:Image signals include stimulated phosphorescence signals obtained by reading stimulated phosphorescence from a part irradiated by excitation light photoelectrically and stimulated phosphorescence afterglow signals obtained by reading photoelectrically stimulated phosphorescence afterglow from a part on which irradiation of excitation light is ceased after irradiation of the excitation light. Reading of picture image signals is made in the state in which the level of the stimulated phosphorescence signals is less than 10<-2.5> times the level of accelerated phosphorescence signals at a position 20mm off on the sheet from the position where irradiation of excitation light is completed, and less than 10<-3.3> times at a position 430mm off. Thereby, a problem of noise caused by stimulated phosphorescence afterglow is eliminated and an accurate radiant ray image can be obtained.
