METALLIC FINISHING METHOD

PURPOSE:To provide excellent intrinsic coloration by giving a difference of a specific range to the refractive indices of the core part and continuous phase part of nonag. dispersion particles in a finish paint. CONSTITUTION:A soln. type thermosetting paint contg. a metallic pigment is coated on the material, then a nonaq. acrylic polymer dispersion type thermosetting finish paint which does not contain the pigment is coated wet on wet thereon. Both the coated films are simultaneously heated to cure. The refractive index of the core part of the nonaq. acrylic polymer dispersion in the finish paint and the refractive index of the continuous phase part thereof are so adjusted as to have a difference within a 0.010-0.200 range. Incident light on the metallic coated film is scattered by such refractive index difference and is converted to intricate light and such scattering and conversion are repeated until the original appearance having changes and excellent decorativeness is obtd.
