<p>A rotory transmission unit which comprises an input ramp plate (23), an output ramp plate (22), a number of displaceable elements (26) interposed between the ramp plates, a brake means to apply a brake torque to the output ramp plate and an arrestor (27) which is arranged to apply a torque load to the input ramp plate (23). The arrestor (27) is designed to operate by applying a continuous brake torque to the input shaft (ll) and the brake means is designed to be operated by the relative rotation of the input ramp plate (27) with respect to the output ramp plate (22). The torque applied by the arrestor (27) to the input shaft (ll) is not sufficient to prevent rotation of the shaft, however, is sufficient to dampen the fluctuations in the drive applied to the input shaft.</p> |
