PURPOSE:To improve corrosion-resistance in alkaline electrolytic solution, by forming a hydrogen absorbing electrode, which is used for an anode of an alkaline storage battery or the like, containing a hydrogen absorbing alloy expressed in a formula LaNixCoySiz. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen absorbing electrode, which is used for an anode of a metal hydrogen alkaline storage battery or the like, is formed containing a hydrogen absorbing alloy expressed in a formula LaNixCoySiz (where, 4.5<=x+y+z<=5.5 and 0.5<=z<=2.0). Addition of Si improves corrosion-resistance in the alkaline electrolytic solution, and limitation of the (x+y+z) value prevents the hydrogen absorbing alloy from being minutely powdered. Therefore, deterioration in character-ristics, caused by alloy corrosion, is reduced, and the alloy can be prevented from falling away from the electrode, which is accompanied by minutely powdering the alloy, capable of reducing a decrease in capacity and realizing long life. |
