PURPOSE:To miniaturize the titled repeater and to simplify it by using an output optical pulse signal from an optical amplifier element as input data light and using a timing clock as an injection trigger current so as to identify and repro ducing the input dat light by the bistable operation. CONSTITUTION:An output light 7 from an optical amplifier 1 is made incident in a bistable semiconductor laser 3 and a photodetoctor 13 via an isolator 2 for preventing return light and an optical demultiplier 12 using a hlaf mirror. The photodetector 13 uses a timing extraction circuit 14 to extract a timing clock 15. The timing clock 15 is injected to the 1st electrode 17 of the bistable semiconductor laser 3 and a DC bias current is injected from a terminal 27 to the 2nd electrode 18. Then, identified and reproduced output light 11 is obtained at an output of the bistable semiconductor laser 3 through the bistable operation and its timing jitter is<=50ps. Thus, the small-sized optical repeater sending an optical signal with large output and less noise and phase jitter and high signal gain is obtained. |
