PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording medium which has high reproduction C/N, in inexpensive and is suitable for mass production by detecting a change of the electric resistance value of a recording layer, the electric resistance value of which is changed by the impression of light, heat or electric heat thereto as a change of the electrostatic capacity thereof, thereby executing reading out of an information signal. CONSTITUTION:Recording by a phase change is executed on the recording layer 3 when laser light focused by a condenser lens 5 is projected on the information recording medium formed with an amorphous thin film consisting of a mixture composed of antimony and zinc sulfide as the recording layer 3 on a substrate 1. The result that the electric resistance value of the recording layer 3a in the part cooled after heating decreases by about 4 digits is obtd. when the recording layer is cooled after heating. The reproduction signal exhibiting the good C/N when reproduced is obtd. when the information recording medium subjected to the recording is reproduced by a reproducing device of the type to detect the change of the electrostatic capacity.
