PURPOSE:To improve corrosion-resistance in alkaline electrolytic solution, by forming a hydrogen absorbing electrode, which is used for an anode of an alkaline storage battery or the like, containing hydrogen absorbing alloy expressed in a formula MmNixCoySiz. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen absorbing electrode, which is used for an anode of a metal-hydrogen alkaline storage battery or the like, is formed containing a hydrogen absorbing alloy expressed in a formula MmNixCoySiz (where, Mm is misch-metal, and 4.5<=x+y+z<=5.5, 0.5<=z<=2.0). Addition of Si improves corrosion-resistance in the alkaline electrolytic solution, and limitation of the (x+y+z) value prevents the hydrogen absorbing alloy from being minutely powdered. Therefore, deterioration in characteristics, caused by alloy corrosion, is reduced, and the alloy can be prevented from falling away from the electrode, which is accompanied by minutely powdering the alloy, capable of reducing a decrease in capacity and realizing long life. |
