PURPOSE:To reduce the sound generated in a roll, by providing a peripheral wall having a three-layered structure consisting of a metal inner layer, a metal outer layer and the intermediate vibration attenuating layer interposed between both layers. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral wall 2 of a platen roll 1 comprises a three- layered structure consisting of an aluminum inner layer comprising the cylindrical part 11 of an inner roll 10, an aluminum outer layer comprising the peripheral wall 21 of an outer roll 20 and an intermediate vibration attenuating layer 30. The intermediate vibration attenuating layer 30 is formed of a glass fiber fabric 31. The outer peripheral surface of the platen roll 1 is covered with a rubber layer 40. When this roll 1 is used in an impact type printer, the outer roll 20 is vibrated at the time of printing and this vibration is attenuated by the vibration attenuating layer 30 to reduce the amplitude of the vibration generated in the inner roll 10. As a result, the sound generated in the space of the inner roll 10 is reduced by the vibration of the inner roll 10. |
