PURPOSE:To detect a paper end accurately and stably, by arranging a reflecting type photosensor for detecting the paper end to a tractor main body side and forming the opposed underside lid so that the light reflectivity thereof is low. CONSTITUTION:A printer main body is provided with a pair of left and right tractors 15 and continuous slip paper 26 is set between a tractor main body 19 and the lids 24, 25 attached thereto in a freely openable and closable manner and the tractors 15 are driven to feed and discharge paper 26 with respect to a platen 11. In order to detect the end of the paper 26, a reflecting type photosensor 30 utilizing the paper 26 as a light reflecting member to detect the presence of the paper 26 is arranged in the side of the tractor main body 19 so as to be opposed to the paper feed path 33 between the tractor main body 19 and the underside lid 25 and the opposed surface 25a of the underside lid 25 is formed roughly to lower the light reflectivity thereof. By this method, the end of the paper can be detected accurately and stably.
