A device for producing wood chips of the type which comprises a chip-cutting machine borne by a vehicle is configured such that the chip-cutting machine 3 forms part of a suspended unit 2 which is movable relative to the vehicle 1 by means of a crane disposed on the latter, which unit also has members for grabbing standing trees and members for cross-cutting the trees. The chip-cutting machine is situated in the unit such that a cross-cut, upright tree which is held in the unit is advanced through longitudinal movement towards the chip-cutting machine disposed at the bottom of the unit. <IMAGE> |
