PURPOSE:To enable high-speed printing without generating color mixing and to provide a small-sized printer of simple construction by magnetically recording image information of either one of chromatic color and black and recording the image information of the other color by electrostatic charge. CONSTITUTION:A latent image recording medium 1 is constituted by forming a magnetic recording layer 17 on the inside surface of a drum and forming electrostatic recording layers 13, 14 on the outside surface of the drum. Uniform chargers 2 and erasing heads 3 are provided on the inside and outside surfaces of the drum to face each other and laser light 4 is irradiated on the drum along the circumference thereof in the development forming region in succession thereof to record the electrostatic latent image, by which the magnetic latent image is recorded. A magnetic developer 6 and electrostatic developer 7 are successively provided on the outside surface in the developing region. The magnetic development is executed by magnetic brush development using a magnetite-contg. black toner and the electrostatic development which follows said development is executed by fur brush development using a styrene- acrylic red toner. The red and black toners are transferred to paper 8 by a transfer corotron 9 in a transfer region. The toners are heated and pressed by a fixer 10 and are thus fixed.
