PURPOSE:To prevent a mis-operation, by displaying the type of a connected keyboard automatically on a CRT display, when a power source is thrown in. CONSTITUTION:A device is constituted so that a keyboard type code generating means 11 is built in an input keyboard 10, and a means 21 which identifies a keyboard type code generated from the keyboard, and a means 22 which outputs a bit of information corresponding to the code, are provided at an arithmetic part main body 20, and a bit of output information is displayed on a CRT30, etc. In this way, in a state that the input keyboard 10 is connected to the arithmetic part main body 20, an individual keyboard 10 generates a proper code corresponding to a type. As a result, since the code is identified by a code identifying means 21, and the bit of information regarding the type is displayed automatically on the display 30, the type of the keyboard 10 can be recognized securely by a user.
