PURPOSE:To prevent a partial deficiency of a music by calculating the playing time of the music to be reproduced next from the index of a disk, comparing with the quantity of remaining tape and controlling a player according to the comparison result. CONSTITUTION:At the time of the start of dubbing, before the program area of the disk is reproduced in the player, the index area is reproduced and stored in a RAM2 through a CPU19 as a sub-code. In a recorder side, the quantity of the running of the tape and the quantity of the remaining tape are calculated in a counter and time conversion data is outputted. The next music playing time is operated every time when the music is completely reproduced in the CPU19 by the start of the dubbing, compared with the quantity of the remaining tape from the recorder, when the quantity of the remaining tape is large, the player is maintained in a reproducing state and when the playing time is long, the player is brought into a reproduction standby state. When an opposite direction command is received from the recorder, the running direction is reversed, a recording track is changed over, the player is reset to the reproducing state and the dubbing is started again.
