PURPOSE:To improve the detective sensitivity without reducing the maximum detectable signal charges by a method wherein two floating diffused regions and two reset transistors are respectively provided. CONSTITUTION:The signal charges accumulated immediately below the final electrode 8 of a transfer registor is started to be transferred to the first floating diffused region 1. The signal charges can not be immediately transferred to the second floating diffused region in the primary period of transference due to the potential barrier formed in the channel part of the first reset transistor Tr 3. However, as the result of running in signal charges, the region 2 becomes saturated to accumulate the later running in signal charges in the second floating diffused region 2 through the intermediary of the second reset transistor Tr 4, i.e., the less signal discharge not saturating the region 1 are accumulated in the region 1 only while the more signal discharges are accumulated both in the regions 1 and 2. The signal discharges accumulated in the regions 1 and 2 are detected respectively by potential output means 6 and 7.
