PURPOSE:To attain the large capacity recording by making a read/write fine beam incident perpendicularly onto a disk, moving a particle ray source on the disk so as to prevent the spread of a beam diameter. CONSTITUTION:A converged ion source 1 is used, in which a liquid metal of a low melting point such as Sn or Pb is mounted and ions are emitted from an emitter made of a high melting point material by electric field ionization at write. Further, a recording dot by the Sn or Pb ion ray 4 is formed to a digital information signal 3 outputted from an information signal processing unit 2. Then ion rays are converged into, e.g., 1mumphi and irradiated to the Si plate 6 subject to track slot processing 5 at an interval of 0.2mum in advance for write. On the other hand, an electron ray source 10 mounting an electric field emission cathode is used for read, a minute current 11 is converged into 0.1mumphi in this case and irradiated on a prescribed track on the disk. The information is read (12) by measuring the difference from the recording dot of Pb or Sn and the secondary electron or fluorescent X-ray 13 generated from the background Si board. |
