The vanes (2) of the turbine are mechanically controlled, with a rudder coupled to a gearbox (6), which in turn is coupled to the vanes via a shaft and a crank, and also via a triangle. Power transmission from the turbine periphery involves peripheral gearwheels, and a power transmitting shaft to the centre of the unit. Where two turbines are used, a triangular shaped platform and a common power transmission are used. - In the case of large turbines, each vane has a separate control mechanism comprising three chain wheels superimposed one above the other, and fitted on casings. Each socket has a separate control arm with a chain to the vane. - The gearbox (6) incorporates a large ring with inner cogs, inside which three arms rotate in triangular form, and with a gearwheel at each end. To each gearwheel is fitted a chain wheel, and rotation is transmitted back to the centre of the plant via a freely located shaft. Speed increase occurs in two stages, so that energy loss is relatively small. |
