PURPOSE:To prepare the titled solution suitable for obtaining ultrathin, high- strength yarn, by keeping a solution obtained by using a mixed solvent of meth ylene chloride/trichlorotrifluoroethane at a specific temperature and pressure and subjecting the solution to flush spinning. CONSTITUTION:A mixture having >=1.0cc/g specific volume of polyethylene terephthalate and methylene chloride/1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane in a weight ratio of 4:6-9:1 is prepared, heated to 240-280 deg.C and polyethylene terephthalate is dissolved to give 5-20wt% solution. The solution is kept in such a way that pressure P(kg/cm<2>G) of solution and T( deg.C) of solution satisfy a correlation shown by the formula. The dissolution can be extremely rapidly advanced at sufficiently high solution pressure by making the specific volume of the blend in the above-mentioned range, the temperature of the dissolution can be lowered, decomposition of the polymer is suppressed and formation of high strength of yarn after spinning can be attained.
