PURPOSE:To obtain a leather-like molded material which does not lose nature of leather and hardly decolors, by blending dried leather powder with a thermoplastic resin, molding the blend into a molded base fabric, removing a resin skin layer on the surface, impregnating an aqueous coloring solution from the face from which the skin layer is removed into the molded base fabric and sticking the solution to the fabric. CONSTITUTION:Dried fine leather powder 2 of waste leather, for example, comprising 60% powder having <=150 meshes particle diameter, 20% powder having 100-150 meshes particle diameter and about 12% powder having 60-100 meshes, is blended with a thermoplastic resin 3 such as vinyl chloride, etc., heated and molded to give a base fabric 1 of molded material. A resin skin layer 3a on the surface of the heated and molded base fabric 1 of molded material is cut at a line cc and removed from the base fabric. Then an aqueous coloring solution is impregnated from the removed face and the base fabric is colored. The thermoplastic resin 3 is previously blended with a dyestuff having the same color as the hue to color the base fabric, or a lighter color or a different color and the base fabric is colored in the same or different color. The formed material is suitable as sheet for chairs, topcoating for chair, sheet wall material, etc.
