PURPOSE:To obtain the titled material capable of using a stable reducing agent which can be sufficiently withstood oxidation due to oxygen in the air by incorporating a specific sulfene amide compd. to the titled material. CONSTITUTION:The titled material contains the compd. shown by the formula wherein X is -SO2- group, etc., R1 is hydrogen atom or a substituent capable of binding to X, R2 is a substituent capable of binding to N, R3 is a substituent capable of binding to S. At least one of R2 and R3 is an electron acceptable group. The compd. shown by the formula is useful to improve photographic characteristics such as controls of graininess and gradation, etc., of a black and white photographic sensitive material, especially, a X ray photographic sensitive material which mounts a silver iodobromide emulsion layer or a silver chloroiodobromide emulsion layer contg. 0-50mol% silver chloride or <15mol% silver iodide on one side or both sides of the substrate. The used amount of the compd. is 1X10<-6>-1X10<-1>mol, preferably 1X10<-5>-5X10<-2>mol per 1mol of silver halide. |
