PURPOSE:To obtain high pressure injection in a short period and to promote also the reduction of manufacturing cost, by providing barrel suction ports of the equal quantity to the quantity of cylinders corresponding to barrel delivery ports and forming a suction slit by the only one quantity in a plunger. CONSTITUTION:A plunger 5, which rotates and reciprocates, injects fuel to be distributed. A finish of fuel injection is controlled such that a passage 3a, connecting a plunger pressurizing chamber 1 with a low pressure chamber 2 in a pump housing, is opened by a solenoid valve 4. Barrel suction ports 8 are provided by the quantity equal to the quantity of cylinders corresponding to barrel delivery ports 11. Further the plunger 5 forms only one suction slit 7, while this suction slit 7 serves also for the delivery slit of the plunger 5. In this way, a pump, which can obtain high pressure injection in a short period, enables the reduction of manufacturing cost to be promoted.
