PURPOSE:To break and reduce a laminar film layer, to agitate the inside of a vessel, and to perform excellent descaling by blowing air from the lower part of a pickling vessel, and bringing an elastic partition body into contact with the upper surface of the steel strip while blowing air from the upper part of the pickling vessel. CONSTITUTION:Air is blown from the lower part of the pickling vessel 1 through plural feed pipes 6 provided in the longitudinal direction of the vessel, the laminar film layer on the lower surface of the steel strip S is broken and reduced and the inside of the vessel is agitated by bubbling, and the temp. and concn. distribution of the liq. in the vessel is uniformized. Meanwhile, air is blown in from the upper part of the pickling vessel 1 through the upper feed pipe 7 piercing through the cover 10 of the vessel and provided on the outlet side of the pickling vessel 1, and the lower end part of a rubber partition plate 8 furnished at the succeeding stage is brought into contact with the upper surface of the steel strip S. Consequently, the laminar film layer on the upper surface of the steel strip S is broken and reduced. Excellent descaling is performed by this method with a simple structure irrespective of the inadequate shape of the steel strip.
