PURPOSE:To store a program of an external input/output device to other main storage device while one program of a main storage device is under execution without duplicated system constitution by connecting freely respectively an external input/output device and a CPU to one of plural main storage devices. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 3 and main storage devices 6, 7 are connected to a switch 4 of a main storage device management system and when a switch 5 connects the external storage device 1 and the device 7, the device 6 is operated and the device 7 is operated as the input/output device. The CPU 3 accesses the device 6 at the execution of an instruction to read and execute the instruction. Further, the device 7 acts like an IO and a new program from the device 1 is transferred to the device 7 by using a command from a maintenance personnel. Then the switches 4, 5 are driven reversely in starting the service of a new program.
