PURPOSE:To obtain an image forming method capable of directly recording a high density image on a recording member without generating the clogging of ink, constituted so that a recording member is arranged in opposed relation to a heat-meltable ink layer and voltage is selectively applied between each unit electrode and an opposed electrode corresponding to an image signal to be recorded. CONSTITUTION:A heat-meltable ink layer 2 is formed on a support 1 and a recording electrode 5 wherein a plurality of unit electrodes 3 are arranged in an insulating spacer 4 is arranged thereon and opposed electrodes 10 are provided to the recording electrode 5 so as to leave a predetermined interval therebetween. Pulse like voltages are simultaneously applied between the unit electrodes 3 and the opposed electrodes 10 by power sources 14, 17. At this time, a discharge current flows between the ink layer 2 and the electrodes 3 and a part of the ink layer 2 is evaporated by this discharge energy and ink flies toward the surface of a recording member 6. When the ink in the vicinity of the surface of the ink layer 2 flies, unevenness is generated at that part. A smooth roll 11 smoothes the part where unevenness is generated so as to again restore the original state. By this method, a dot can re recorded stably for a long period of time. |
