PURPOSE:To increase an effective fin area and improve a thermal conducting performance by a method wherein a heat exchanger is composed of a group of pipes in which coolant flows and a group of fins inserted into the former group of pipes and air flows between them and thin walled cylindrical members are inserted among the groups of fins and pipes. CONSTITUTION:A heat exchanger is comprised of a group of pipes 4 in which coolant flows and a group of fins 5 inserted into the group of pipes 4 in which air flows between them, and an outer surface 8 of each of thin-walled cylindrical members 6 of the heat exchanger with fins having thin-walled cylindrical members 6 inserted between the groups of fins 5 of the group of pipes 4 is made rough. The groups of fins 5 have a collar part press-worked at a part passing through the group of pipes 4, and its length is made such a value as one not generating any cracks due to a machining work and showing the best close fitness with the group of pipes 4. A length (1) of the thin-walled cylindrical member 6 is set to have a value in which a length of the collar part 6 is subtracted from a required fin spacing L. In this way, an outer surface 8 of the thin-walled member 6 is made rough, so that a dead area at downstream of the group of pipes 4 can be reduced. Therefore, an effective area of fins for a thermal conduction is increased and a performance of thermal conduction is improved.
