PURPOSE:To reduce the lowering of the pH of a liquid color developer with the lapse of time and to inhibit precipitation by adding a carbonate as a pH stabilizer and a specified compound as a preservative to the developing soln. CONSTITUTION:This liquid color developer contains a p-phenylenediamine compound having a water soluble group as a developing agent, a carbonate such as potassium carbonate as a pH stabilizer by >=40g per 1l developing soln. and a compound represented by the formula as a preservative. In the formula, each of R1 and R2 is -OH, -NO2 or the like and each of X1 and X2 is -OM (M is H or an alkali metal), -OR3 (R3 is alkyl) or the like. The preferred pH of the developer is >=10.3 and the preferred amount of the developing agent used is >=1.5X10<-2>mol per 1l developer. The pH of the developer hardly lowers with the lapse of time, precipitation is nearly inhibited and the developer is suitable for rapid processing. |
