PURPOSE:To enable stable processing using a developing solution substantially not containing benzyl alcohol and to enhance color development performance by processing a color photographic sensitive material after imagewise exposure in the presence of a specified amount of a specified surfactant in a photosensitive layer with the color developing solution substantially not containing benzyl alcohol. CONSTITUTION:The color photographic sensitive material has a photosensitive layer containing a silver halide emulsion and a coupler to be allowed to release a dye by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of an aromatic primary amine color developing agent. It is imagewise exposed and color developed with the color developing solution substantially not containing benzyl alcohol in the presence of the colorless nonionic surfactant in the photosensitive layer or in a developing agent in an amount of 10-300wt% of the color coupler. The surfactant to be added has an aliphatic group except an F-substituted group as a hydrophobic group, and a nonsubstituted aromatic group, and a hydrophilic group, such as -SO3M, -SO2M, -OSO3M, or -SO2M, M being H, a metal atom, or an atomic group convertible into a cation in the molecule.
