PURPOSE:To obtain a compact hot water supplier by placing combustion plates in opposition to each other and locating heat exchangers at both ends of each combustion plate. CONSTITUTION:A fuel gas 11 is ejected through a fuel ejection nozzle 36. Upon this occasion, the fuel gas 11 is mixed with combustion air supplied from a blower 10 to form a mixed gas, which is fed into a fuel feed path 12, and then is introduced into combustion plates 13 and 14. The mixed gas is fed uniformly into the combustion chamber through a large number of burner ports provided in the combustion plates. Thereafter, the fuel gas is ignited by an igniter 37, and forms opposite flames 23 and 24. The mixed gas is turned out to be a combustion gas of a high temperature to feed heat to fins 19 and 20 of heat exchangers 17 and 18. Then, the combustion gas is turned out exhaust gases 33 and 34, which pass through exhaust gas passages 29 and 30 and are discharged through exhaust gas outlets 31 and 32 into external air. A combustion chamber is formed between combustion plates 13 and 14 in which opposite flames are formed. The opposite flames assume high-load combustion and are formed in a thin shape, and hence it is possible to form a burner in a compact shape and a small depth.
