<p>PURPOSE:To improve solvent resistance and to prevent the contamination of a liquid crystal by the impurities by forming a color filter layer consisting of a specific material on the liquid crystal side one substrate and providing a transparent protective film essentially consisting of SiO2 thereon. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal cell consists of the substrates 10, 12, the liquid crystal 14, the filter layer 18 consisting of 3 colors of filter picture element groups 18R, 18G, 18B, the transparent protective film 24 essentially consisting of SiO2 provided thereon, picture element electrodes 20 and an oriented film 22. The filter layer 18 is patterned by a material prepd. by incorporating a dye into a polyimide resin. Since the protective film 24 essentially consisting of SiO2 is provided on the colored filter layer 18, the contamination of the liquid by the impurities is prevented.</p> |
