PURPOSE:To protect the gap forming part of a magnetic core so as to prevent the wear thereof and to improve the reliability and life of the titled head by forming a nonmagnetic wear-resistant film to at least the part including a signal transmitting and receiving part. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic head consists of a glass substrate 2 having a rectangular shape, an annular magnetic core 3 of about 5-10mum thickness fixed onto one main plane of the substrate 2, a winding 6 wound on the core 3, pads 7 electrically connected to the winding 6 and deposited on the glass substrate 2 and a titanium nitride TiN film 22 of about 10mum thickness formed on the magnetic core 3. The gap 4 having about 1-30mum length w is formed to the magnetic core 3 part facing the part where the winding 6 is wound. The TiN film is nonmagnetic and has good wear resistance. The wear of the magnetic head core is thereby obviated and the length of the gap is maintained at a normal value for a long period of time. |
