PURPOSE:To reproduce a picture free from noise band by deviating the order of a video signal at each track on a recording medium placed apart from each other by a prescribed number of lines in the unit of lines according to a prescribed rule to reproduce signals of all locations on a screen without changing the format. CONSTITUTION:A recording system timing generating cirucit 22 of a recording/ reproducing system dicides an odd number of a horizontal/vertical synchronizing signal and a feild by a video signal including a synchronizing signal to generate a prescribed sample clock. The clock is fed to an A/D conversion cirucit 23 receiving a video signal and the signal subjected to A/D conversion is fed to a frame memory 25. Further, the horizontal/vertical synchronizing signal extracted from the cirucit 22, the odd number decision signal and the clock are fed to the memory control cirucit 24. The write/read address form the cirucit 24 is fed to the memory 25 and the order of the video signal is recorded while being deviated in the unit of lines according to a prescribed rule at each track of a tape 28 by the magnetic head 27, the format is not changed and the signals of all locations are reproduced by using the head 27.
