PURPOSE:To remove the output of abnormal distortion even at the input of a signal by setting up a time constant for automatically controlling an output level of a distortion generating circuit to a value less than that of the automatic output level control of a level control means. CONSTITUTION:When a signal 11 is inputted and its level is raised in steps, the gain of a driver (amplifier) 1 is increased from its maximum value at a time constant T1 and the level of a signal 12 is raised from a level determined by its level at the input of the signal 11 and the minlmum gain of the driver 1 up to a level determined by the automatic output level of a driver amplifier 1. Since the distortion generating circuit 2 responds to the rise of the signal 12 at a time constant T2 smaller than the time constant T1 at the rise of the signal 12, the circuit 2 is prevented from the abnormality of distortion generating operation due to the variation of the operation level also at the transient time of the rise of the signal 12. Since a power amplifier 3 responds to the rise of a signal 13 at a time constant T3 less than the T2, nonlinear distortion at the transient time of the rise can be canceled by non-linear distortion in the signal 13.
