EXTRACTION OF SULPHUR FROM PYRITIC MINERALS

Extraction of sulphur from pyritic minerals which comprises the oxidising lixiviation of pulverised minerals followed by extraction by means of an organic solvent; this lixiviation is preceded by separation of sulphides of non-ferrous metals by flotation. The organic solvent may be benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene or xylene.
