This device consists of an annular magnetic probe (1), the plane of which is arranged essentially perpendicularly to the current lines (2) to be measured. The probe (1) exhibits an air gap in which a magnetic-field-dependent sensor (3) is arranged. The device is particularly suitable for measuring the ion current density in baths for electrolytic etching of aluminium foils for electrolytic capacitors. <IMAGE>
