PURPOSE:To improve impact resistance and crack resistance, by blending a polyphenylene ether or a mixture thereof with a styrene resin with a low- molecular polyethylene oxide and a high-molecular polyethylene oxide. CONSTITUTION:0.1-5pts.wt. low-molecular polyethylene oxide having an average MW of not higher than 10,000 and 0.1-10pts.wt. high-molecular polyethylene oxide (A) having an average MW of not lower than 100,000 are incorporated in 100pts.wt. polyphenylene or mixture (B) thereof with a styrene resin (e.g., polystyrene) in a ratio of 8/2-2/8, whereby resistance to impact and cracking, flow characteristics in processing, etc. can be improved without detriment to heat resistance, electrical characteristics and dimensional stability inherent to the component A. The compsn. is suitable for use in the production of large- sized housings, etc. |
