PURPOSE:To reduce fog and to enhance storage stability, by incorporating two specified compounds in the image formation reaction system for a silver halide color photosensitive material and raising pH in the layer of a photosensitive material by bringing these compounds into reaction. CONSTITUTION:In the image formation reaction system by a silver halide color photosensitive material containing a compound represented by the formula Ra-SO2-D, a hardly soluble metallic compound, and a compound which is capable of forming a complex with water and a metallic ion constituting said hardly soluble metallic compound as media, are brought into reaction. By this reaction, pH in the layer of the photosensitive material can be raised. As the hardly soluble metallic compound, one may mention a carbonate, a phosphate, a silicate, having a water-solubility of <=0.5, and composite salts of these compounds. In the above formula, Ra is a reducing group oxidizable by silver halide and D is an image forming dye moiety having a hydrophilic group. |
