摘要 PURPOSE:To retard methanation reaction in a high temperature sifting chamber by supplying hydrogen sulfide to a carbon monoxide hygh temperature sifting chamber when the temperature of the carbon monoxide high temperature sifting chamber into which reformed gas is introduced from a reformer reched allowable temperature. CONSTITUTION:Original fuel is introduced into a catalyst layer comprising nickel in a reformer 1. Carbon monoxide is removed from the reformer gas obtained in a carbon monoxide high temperature sifting chamber 2 and a carbon monoxide low temperature sifting chamber 3 by carbon monoxide sifting reaction, then obtained gas is supplied to a fuel electrode of a fuel cell 4. A hydrogen sulfide tank 5 is connected between the reformer 1 and the carbon monoxide high temperature sifting chamber 2 through a supply valve 6. When the temperature in the carbon monoxide high temperature sifting chamber 2 is incresed with the advance of deterioration in performance of the reformer 1 and reached allowable temperature, hydrogen sulfide is supplied to the sifting chamber 2 to retard methanation reaction. Therefore, deterioration in catalytic action in the sifting chamber 2 is prevented and the life is lengthened.
