PURPOSE:A cold storing agent, obtained by applying a polycarboxylic acid based water absorbing resin to a porous base material, absorbing water in the above-mentioned resin and gelatinizing the hydrous resin and having improved shape retaining property and durability. CONSTITUTION:A cold storing agent obtained by applying a polycarboxylic acid based water absorbing resin, e.g. prepared by crosslinking a polymer of an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer (having preferably 2,000-500,000 number-averange molecular weight) with a crosslinking agent and drying the crosslinked polymer, to a porous base material, e.g. absorbent cotton, etc., absorbing water in the above-mentioned resin and gelatinizing the hydrous resin. |
