PURPOSE:To prepare a developing solution capable of forming photographic performance high in quality by incorporating at least one of specified compounds in the developing solution. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide photographic sensitive material is developed with a black-and-white developing solution containing at least one of dihydroxybenzene type developing agents, 3-pyrazolidone type developing agents, aminophenol type developing agents, and 1-aryl-3-aminopyrazoline type developing agents to form a silver image. At that time, the developing solution contains at least one of the compounds represented by formula I and II in which R<1> is H, 1-3 C alkyl, or the like; each of R<2> and R<3> is H, halogen, or the like; X is one of middle chalcogens; each of Y<1> and Y<2> is a counter ion; n is 0 or 1; Q is one of quternized groups represented by formula III-V; L is a divalent bonding group; R<4> is a hydrocarbon residue or amino; each of T and T' is -CO- or the like; M is 1, 2, or 3; W is a C or N atom; Z is a nonmetallic atomic group; and R<5> is optionally substituted alkyl or the like. |
