PURPOSE:To achieve a higher detection sensitivity, by winding a probe body with a pair of coils in a manner that they made an angle of inclination to an imaginary section passing the axis center of the probe body and at a fixed interval. CONSTITUTION:A probe body 1 is wound with a pair of coils 6 and 7 in a manner that they made an angle alpha (0<alpha<90 deg.) of inclination to an imaginary section passing the axis center 0 of the body 1 and at a fixed interval 8 and each one end of both the coils 6 and 7 is connected to a bridge circuit 5. Therefore, when energized, both the coils 6 and 7 form a magnetic field thereabout and hence, for example, when the probe is inserted into an object to be inspected as pipe body, as the coils 6 and 7 are connected to each one arm of the circuit 5, the output is balanced giving zero amplitude unless there is a change in the magnetic field, that is, that in the impedance by both the coils 6 and 7. This also minimizes the effect from the outline of the body to be inspected. Thus, when the probe is inserted into the object being inspected and the coils 6 and 7 are made to approach a part to be inspected, it can effectively detect a defect, corrosion and conductive foreign matter whatsoever at the part being inspected.
