PURPOSE:To prevent the display quality from being deteriorated, by coloring the periphery of a display area consisting of a matrix-shaped picture element group, to a translucent state by printing to the surface of the side which contacts a liquid crystal of a substrate, so that a color of the colored part becomes roughly equal to a color of a semi-selected state at the time when a picture element group has been driven by a time division. CONSTITUTION:A painted color part 3 is a picture element of a lighting state, the right oblique line part 4 is a semi-lit state, namely, a picture element which has generated a crosstalk, and the left oblique line part 8 is a printing part, and has been a transparent background part so far, but colored in a translucent state in the almost same ways as the picture element 4 in which its color has generated a crosstalk with the almost same shape and density as the picture element. Printing of the printing part 8 is performed to the surface of the side which contacts a liquid crystal of one piece of transparent substrates of a liquid crystal panel. Accordingly, there is no parallel at the time when it has been seen from the diagonal direction, caused by thickness of the substrate. Such printing can be executed by usual method and material. In this way, a liquid crystal display device having an excellent display quality is obtained.
