<p>PURPOSE:To provide a lightweight bumper excellent in rigidity and high-impact property by a method wherein a laminate consisting of long reinforcing fibers paralleled in one direction and long fiber mats is impregnated with thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:A stampable sheet is produced by impregnating a laminate 1 consisting of long reinforcing fibers 3 paralleled in one direction and long fiber mats 2 with thermoplastic resin. Here, the ratio of the long reinforcing fibers in the laminate is 30-80wt% and the laminate of 20-70wt% and the thermoplastic resin of 30-80wt% are respectively contained in the sheet. Polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate or the like is employed as the thermoplastic resin. In addition, long glass fiber, carbon fiber, Kevlar fiber or the like is employee as the long fiber. A bumper beam 11 shaped out of the above- mentioned stampable sheet is formed in continuous form and at the same time in nearly a U-shape in cross section normal to the longitudinal direction and, at that time, bearers 14 and rim skin mounting holes 18 can also be integrally formed.</p> |
