PURPOSE:To easily, safely and efficiently form quickly solidified powder by rotating a bottomed spraying cylinder, splashing the molten metal housed therein from nozzle holes in the form of a mist and quickly cooling the spraying cylinder by a cooling liquid layer in a cooling cylinder which rotates concentrically with the spraying cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The spraying cylinder 2 which is bottomed and is perforated with the many nozzle holes 19 on outside and inside peripheral walls 2a, 2b is internally provided to the bottomed cooling cylinder 1 concentrically therewith. The above-mentioned cooling cylinder 1 and spraying cylinder 2 are respectively rotated by wheels 23, 24 for rotational driving. The cooling liquid is supplied from a supply pipe 22 into said cooling cylinder 1 and the cooling liquid layer 12 is formed by centrifugal force on the inside wall surface of an upper cylinder 4 provided with a liquid stopping flange 7. On the other hand, the molten metal 20 is supplied through a pouring nozzle 21 in the spraying cylinder 2. The molten metal 20 is raised by the centrifugal force along the inside peripheral wall 2b of the spraying cylinder 2 provided with a molten metal stopping flange 18 and is splashed in the form of the mist from the nozzle holes 19 to the outside of the cylinder. The particles of the splashed molten metal 20 are parted by the collision against the cooling liquid layer 12, by which the particles are quickly cooled and solidified to form the metallic powder. Such metallic powder is recovered from a discharge port 10 of the bottom part of the cooling cylinder 1.
