The unit is designed to reduce the inertia of the optical system at the initial and final stages of its forward and backward drivings and consequently reduce the load applied to the drive motor. The unit includes two pairs of racks(16,17) and (18,19) arranged in two lines at the initial and final drive positions of No. 1 and No. 2 movable mirror units(13) and (15) respectively moving on guides (12) and (14) and having shafts(20) and (21) extending to have pinion gears(22) and (23) to engage with racks(16,17) and (18, 19).
