PURPOSE:To produce a high-purity alloy material by constituting a vessel for melting an alloy contg. a rare earth element having excellent activity and a nozzle for ejecting the molten alloy of a CaO refractory material and maintaining a treatment atmosphere in a nonoxidizing atmosphere at the time of producing the foil, wire rod or powder of the above-mentioned alloy. CONSTITUTION:The CaO refractory material is used as a refractory material for lining the vessel such as crucible to melt various kinds of the alloys contg. the rare earth element having the extremely high activity at the time of producing the foil-like thin sheet, wire rod or powder of said alloys. Melting of the alloy is executed in the nonoxidizing atmosphere of Ar, He, etc., and the nozzle for ejecting the molten alloy at the time of producing the thin sheet, wire rod or powder is also made of the CaO refractory material. The ejection of the molten metal is executed in the above-mentioned nonoxidizing atmosphere. The oxidation of the rare earth element during the time when said element is melted and is made into the product such as thin sheet is obviated and the member contg. the high-purity rare earth element is stably produced. |
