PURPOSE:To sensuously set a format by setting current column and row positions on one page based on the specification signal of a position specification means specifying the current numbers of columns and rows per printing page. CONSTITUTION:When characters are inputted one by one from a key input part (not shown in figure) in order to compose documents, the position specification means 1 generates and gives a signal showing the current column and row positions of the inputted character to a setting means 2. When the column or row position suitable to the format of documents to be formed is attained, a setting means 2 sets the column or row position. Then the number of set columns or rows is stored in a storage means 3, and transmitted as format setting data to a CPU. According to the format set data characters inputted hence onward are documented in the set format. Thus the setting and modifying of a documentation format can be made extremely easily.
