PURPOSE:To correct the color shift of a color recording image by adjusting finely the transfer recording start positions of a color which is already transferred and recorded and a color to be transferred and recorded next in the subscanning direction according to the quantity of cumulative data on the color shift between the position of the color which is already transferred and recorded and the position of the color to be transferred and recorded. CONSTITUTION:The transfer recording start positions of the color which is already transferred and recorded and the color to be transferred and recorded next in the subscanning direction are shifted according to the quantity of cumulative data on a color shift. The fixed position of image recording paper, i.e. the transfer recording start position in the subscanning direction is adjusted finely at each end of transfer recording of each color according to the quantity of cumulative data on the color shift and the transfer recording of a next color is started at the finely adjusted position to form a transfer recording image plane. Similarly, said operation is repeated for every color to form a color recording image. Thus, the color shift in the subscanning direction which is integrated at the end of recording is uniformed and made inconspicuous.
