PURPOSE:To reduce the circuit scale and to attain the power consumption with a magnetic recording/reproducing device, by performing the selective switch between the going and coming-back reproduction magneto-resistance elements and using a constant current source and a reproduction amplifier circuit in common with both going and coming-back reproductions. CONSTITUTION:At the time of performing a going reproduction, switches 2a and 2b are switched to the side F and therefore transistors (TR) Qa and Qb are turned on and off respectively. Then a constant current flows to a magneto- resistance element MR1 from a constant current source CS1 via the TR Qa. Then both switches 2a and 2b are changed to the side R at the time of a coming-back reproduction. Thus a constant current flows to the element MR1 from the source CS1 via the TR Qb. As a result, the source CS1 and a reproduction amplifier circuit 3 require just half number of conventional magneto- resistance elements, i.e., these elements equivalent to 20 circuits. Thus the switch size is cut down to half and therefore the overall power consumption is reduced with this magnetic recording/reproducing device. |
