PURPOSE:To remove H2 gas and impurities, such as non-metallic inclusion, etc., in molten metal, by charging molten Al or molten Mg into a treating furnace, making the space at the upper part of the molten metal, the dry air or the inert gas atmosphere and blowing the inert gas in a bubbling state from the bottom part of the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:Al or Mg or these alloy as molten state is supplied into the treating furnace 1 from a melting furnace through a trough 32. The upper part of the treating furnace is cut off from the outside air by inserting a stainless steel-made projecting part 13 of a cover 10 into the circular groove 8, in which sealing material 9, such as metal or ceramic powder, is filled. Air having a dew point lower than it of the outside air or inert gas, such as Ar, etc., is supplied from a supplying pipe 17 of the cover 10, to make the molten metal surface the inert atmosphere. At the same time of ascending the bubbling- state treating gas in the molten metal, H2 gas and oxide series inclusions, such as Al2O3, MgO, etc., in the molten metal are separated and floated up on the molten metal surface and clean molten metal is tapped off from a tapping trough 33.
