PURPOSE:To contrive reduction in insulation distance by a method wherein an equalizer is wound between a winding and an earthing material when the winding of a transformer is wound, and the electric potential between the winding and the earthing material is controlled properly. CONSTITUTION:An insulating cylinder 2 of synthetic resin is fitted to the outer circumference of the main leg 1 of an iron core, and a low-tension winding 3 on which a metal sheet and an insulative sheet are superposed and wound is wound on said outer circumference. On the low-tension winding 3, cooling ducts 4 are formed leaving a suitable interval between them. Besides, an insulaed cylinder 6 consisting of synthetic resin and the like is arranged concentrically with the insulated cylinder on the external circumference of the low-tension winding 3 through the intermediary of a reactance gap 5, and a high-tension winding 7, which is formed by superposing and winding a metal sheet and an insulating sheet, is wound on the outer circumferential part of said insulated cylinder 6. An equalizer 21 is wound on the end part of windings 3 and 7 together with a sheet of insulating paper 22. The length of the equalizer 21 is long on the low-tension side of the winding, and it becomes shorter as the electric potential of the windings 3 and 7 becomes higher.
